The Small Sagittarius Star Cloud is a small region filled with stars and, in fact, one of the few non deep sky objects listed in Messier's catalog. The image only shows a small fraction of this area containing some prominent bright stars.

The small open cluster in this image is indeed NGC6603, which was discovered by John Herschel in 1830.

The image below show the complete region as it was captured at 580mm with an APS-C sensor (1h LRGB). The red spot on the left is M17, the Omega Nebula:
