The exceptionally bright globular cluster Messier 13 in constellation Hercules, or simply Hercules Globular Cluster, can be observed with simple binoculars as a faint smudge.
At a distance of about 25.000 lightyears it is the home of at least 500.000 stars and discovered back in 1714 by the britisch astronomer Sir Edmund Halley.
